TripIt alternatives in 2026: apps that also watch your prices and deadlines
TripIt has been the default travel organizer for years: forward your confirmation emails, get a tidy itinerary. It still does that well. But many travelers now want something TripIt mostly doesn't do: watch the bookings they've already made, warn them before a free-cancellation window closes, and flag when the same hotel gets cheaper.
Below is a practical comparison of TripIt and the main alternatives in 2026, with a focus on price-drop alerts and cancellation deadlines. Every feature and price comes from the company's own pages, checked in October 2026. Full disclosure: one of the apps on the list, Jetzo, is ours. We've tried to be straight about where it falls short too.
What TripIt does (and doesn't) cover
TripIt (free) builds itineraries from confirmation emails you forward to plans@tripit.com, or that it picks up through Inbox Sync. It covers flights, hotels, car rentals, trains and more, with calendar sync and sharing (TripIt pricing).
TripIt Pro ($49 a year) adds real-time flight alerts, check-in reminders, seat and alternate-flight tools, and "monitors for fare refunds". That last feature, Fare Tracker, is narrower than the name suggests. According to TripIt's help center, it only tracks economy fares on itineraries entirely within the US, on seven US airlines, starting 100 days before departure, and the price must be in USD (TripIt Fare Tracker).
We couldn't find hotel price tracking or free-cancellation deadline reminders anywhere in TripIt's feature lists. If those matter to you, read on.
One more note: if you're coming from TripCase, it no longer exists. TripIt's own TripCase page says it shut down on April 1, 2025 (TripIt).

Alternatives that watch your prices
Plot
Plot is the closest like-for-like TripIt replacement with price monitoring built in. You forward confirmations to plans@plot.travel, it builds a day-by-day itinerary, and the Pro plan monitors flight, hotel and car rental prices from the day you book. When a price drops, it tells you how much you'd get back and how to claim it under your airline's or hotel's rules. It also nudges you 48 hours before a free-cancellation window closes, and it has flight-status alerts and companion sharing. The Free plan covers organizing and day-of-travel alerts; Pro is $59.99 a year or $9.99 a month (Plot).
Good for: frequent flyers who want one app for itineraries, flight status and price drops. Watch out for: it works by forwarding, so every booking has to be sent in.
StayHawk
StayHawk focuses on the money side of hotel bookings. You forward a confirmation to inbox@stayhawk.app or import it with a Chrome extension from Booking.com, Expedia, Agoda, Hotels.com or Airbnb. It reminds you before free cancellation ends, at 7 days, 3 days and 24 hours. Pro adds daily price monitoring using Google Hotels data, alerts on lower refundable rates, rebook links, and support for flights, trains and car rentals. The free plan covers deadline alerts for up to 5 bookings. Airbnb stays get deadline tracking but no price monitoring (StayHawk).
Good for: people who book a lot of refundable hotels, including small agencies. Watch out for: it's a booking monitor more than a full trip planner.
Autopilot
Autopilot takes a different approach: you add a trip by pasting a confirmation number or connecting your inbox, and it looks for lower fares on your flights and hotels after you book. Its pitch is "If we save you nothing, you pay nothing", so it earns from the savings rather than a subscription (Autopilot).
Good for: travelers who only care about repricing and don't need an itinerary app. Watch out for: read how its fee works before you sign up, since you're paying from what you save.
Jetzo (ours)
Jetzo connects to your Gmail with read-only access instead of asking you to forward emails, so bookings show up on their own, including ones you made before you signed up. It groups flights, hotels, car rentals, activities, restaurants and trains into trips with a day-by-day timeline. About 48 hours before a free-cancellation deadline, you get a push notification and an email. For hotels that can still be cancelled for free, it checks current prices every night and alerts you when the same stay is meaningfully cheaper. It also flags overlapping bookings (two hotels for the same night), totals your spending by category, and lets you invite the people you travel with, merging their bookings into the same trip. It never books or cancels for you.
Good for: Gmail users who want deadlines and hotel price drops handled without forwarding anything. Watch out for: it's Gmail-only for now, it doesn't do live flight-status alerts like TripIt Pro or Plot, and it's an installable web app rather than an App Store app. Price tracking currently covers hotels, not flights. Your first trip is free, then $2.99 a month or $9.99 a year.
Alternatives for organizing and planning
Wanderlog
Wanderlog is a planning-first app: maps, places to visit, route ordering and shared itineraries. You can forward confirmation emails to import flights, hotels and car rentals (Wanderlog FAQ). Connecting Gmail so it finds flight and hotel bookings automatically is also possible, and its help center files Gmail scanning under Pro features (Wanderlog help). We didn't find price-drop or cancellation-deadline alerts. Great for planning what to do, less so for watching what you've paid.
Tripsy
Tripsy is a polished itinerary app that started on iPhone and now also has web and Android versions. The free tier includes unlimited trips, guests and expenses. Tripsy Pro ($59 a year, or $299 one-time) adds automatic email import, flight-update alerts, documents, a calendar feed and data export (Tripsy). It doesn't advertise price-drop or cancellation alerts.
KAYAK Trips
KAYAK Trips is free and simple: forward confirmations to trips@kayak.com and your flight, stay and car bookings appear in Trips. KAYAK says that as of September 2026, forwarding is the only way to automate it; inbox syncing is gone (KAYAK help). Flight-status email alerts are included. No booked-price tracking.
Google (Calendar, Maps and Hotels)
Google no longer offers a trip organizer. It removed the Gmail-based trip summaries from Google Travel in 2023 (9to5Google), though reservations from Gmail can still appear in Google Calendar. Google Hotels lets you track the price of a specific hotel for chosen dates, which you can set up for a hotel you've booked, but it doesn't know your rate or your cancellation deadline (9to5Google).
How to choose
- You mostly want flight-day help (gate changes, delays, check-in reminders): stay with TripIt Pro, or try Plot.
- You book refundable hotels and want to catch price drops: look at StayHawk, Plot or Jetzo. All three tie price alerts to whether you can still cancel.
- You hate forwarding emails: Jetzo reads Gmail directly; Autopilot can connect an inbox; Wanderlog scans Gmail on Pro.
- You're planning what to do, not tracking what you paid: Wanderlog or Tripsy.
- You want free and basic: TripIt's free tier or KAYAK Trips.
Whatever you pick, the habit that saves the most money is the same: book refundable rates when the difference is small, and keep an eye on prices until the free-cancellation deadline. Our guides on getting money back when your hotel price drops and never missing a free-cancellation deadline walk through both.
Features and prices were checked on each company's website in October 2026 and can change.
